Madhya Pradesh is already undergoing terrible winter conditions which are being recorded surprisingly earlier this year and the temperatures dropped sharply even in the month of November. With there being a heavy snowfall within North India and specifically in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, cold winds are blowing straight at MP, which is leading to their night temperatures continuously falling. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a three days cold wave alert to the residents of the country asking them to be more wary as the cold deepens. We can have a closer look at the weather situation in the state.
IMD argues that the cause of the decreasing temperatures is the arrival of the northern winds. These winds are carrying the cold deep inside Madhya pradesh and both day and night weather patterns have been affected massively. On Sunday (November 16), the cold wave warning has been declared in a number of districts and various areas such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Chhatarpur, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Shajapur, Sehore, Satna, Niwari, Dewas, Tikamgarh, Panna, Rewa, Maihar, Dindori, Katni, Anuppur and Umaria. These regions will be subjected to colder than normal night time weather.
Considering the temperatures observed on Friday and Saturday night, some districts had unusually low temperatures. Rewa got 7.5 °C, and Naugaon, Chhatarpur got 7.8 °C. The minimum temperature in the state capital of Bhopal was 8 °C at night. Umaria registered 8.4 °C, Shivpuri was 9 °C, and Khajuraho was 9.4 °C. Satna, Malajkhand, and Indore recorded temperatures of about 9.6 °C and 9.7 °C, respectively. Jabalpur was at 9.7 °C. Chhindwara had 9.8 °C, and Gwalior had 9.9 °C. The rest of the state cities were a little warmer with temperatures of over 10 o C.
As a cold wave is present and is predicted to continue, residents are encouraged to take exercise, particularly at the night and in the early mornings. To prepare an intense winter ahead, MP braces would include warmer clothes, adequate heating, and exposure to cold.
