Rajgarh: With another shocking incident from the Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, the outline of the worsening situation of healthcare facilities in the state of Madhya Pradesh has come to light again. When an ambulance is needed to transfer a child to a better healthcare institution, gross negligence results in the death of a 3-year-old, no oxygen reaches the ambulance midway through its transfer.
Also, Harshita Kushwaha from Patna village in Guna district was initially admitted to Guna District Hospital. Her condition was worsening, till when doctors sent her to Bhopal for advanced treatment. Desperate to save her, her family arranged for her to be transported to the state capital by ambulance. Although tragedy hit the ambulance 5 kilometers before Biaora in the Rajorgh district, when the oxygen cylinder was depleted.
Harshita’s demise resulted from immediate attempts to replace the cylinder, but the backup supply was also empty. Her devastated family has accused the medical staff at Guna Hospital of ignoring their pleas for adequate treatment and taking them instead to Bhopal. The claim is also that during the night, hospital staff, including doctors and nurses, were asleep and did not properly attend to the child.
The ambulance driver, in addition to the distress, left the grieving family outside Biaora hospital, abandoning them, throwing their belongings out and fleeing the scene. The hospital staff and the irresponsible ambulance driver should be taken to task by Harshita’s grandfather.
The negligence of the medical department during the time of disaster can be a cause of worry, and the negligence brings the healthcare of such a region to a very sad situation. They are now calling on justice and accountability from the authority, seeking improvements in the healthcare system to avert such tragedies in future.
