In light of the Harda incident, this didn’t get worse. The market is made up of 49 shops, and the fire would have engulfed all of them — a much worse disaster. But district administration, police, municipal fire brigade teams, local citizens, and shopkeepers spared no effort to control the damage. Rakesh Singh, Public Works minister, praised the collective efforts that helped mitigate the situation.

MP Ashish Dubey and MLA Dr Abhilash Pandey visited the Kathounda firecracker market to look at how the situation. Five shops were completely destroyed by the fire, and several others were partially damaged. There were no injuries or killings in the incident. Preliminary investigations show that the fire was most likely caused by a short circuit.

Officials were instructed to keep vigilance throughout the night to prevent any further flare-ups and to keep the public safe. A financial loss caused by the fire is currently being assessed.

The incident reminds us of the firecracker market hazard and that extremity requires strict safety regulations. As authorities reiterated the need to follow fire safety guidelines, they warned that an incident similar to that involving firefighters’ dorm might not be repeated in the future.
