Sagar: A massive fire broke out in an oil godown near Jhula Tirahe in Tilakganj area on Wednesday afternoon. Within no time the fire spread and the flames got out of control. On getting the information police and administration officials and fire brigade have reached the spot. In view of the increasing fire, apart from the fire brigade of Municipal Corporation Sagar, Makronia Municipality, vehicles have been called from Bina, Agasaud, Bilhara, Banda, Surkhi. 10 vehicles are trying to douse the fire in about 2 hours.

In view of the increasing fire in the three-storey oil godown, there has been a stir in the surrounding area. Nearby houses have been also evacuated. People have taken out the gas cylinders kept in the houses and kept them outside on the road. Thousands of litres of oil spilt have been spilt on the road.

The police have cleared the crowd of people from the road. The roads leading to the spot have been closed. Sagar CSP Ravindra Mishra said that the oil godown belongs to SR Traders Sureshchand Jaswani. Preliminary investigation suggests that the short circuit be the cause of the fire breakout. No casualties were, however, reported in the incident. It is not clear how much oil is kept in the godown.
