Breaking ties with the Congress Party after a longstanding association of 40 years, Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speculations had been circulating for quite some time about Malviya’s potential move to the BJP, and on Monday, he officially became a member in the presence of BJP state president CP Joshi and other prominent party leaders at the BJP office.
During this event, Malviya expressed, “I have been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since my student days. Today, it feels like I am returning to my home.” Prior to this decision, Malviya engaged in discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah and met with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at Jodhpur House the previous night. Following these conversations, he traveled from Delhi to Jaipur the next morning to formalize his membership with the BJP.
Malviya, who was previously a Member of Parliament, has held various positions within the Rajasthan Congress, including Vice President, District Chief, MP, MLA, and served twice as a Cabinet Minister. Additionally, he has played a crucial role as the Executive Vice President of the Tribal Congress Cell.
The decision to switch allegiance came after careful consideration and discussions with key BJP leaders, signifying a significant shift in Malviya’s political alignment. The move is expected to have repercussions in the political landscape of Rajasthan, especially considering Malviya’s extensive political experience and influence in the state.
As he rejoins the BJP, Malviya emphasized the sense of returning home, hinting at a renewed sense of belonging. This political development adds an interesting dimension to the evolving dynamics within the state’s political arena, setting the stage for potential changes in alliances and power structures.
