Bhopal: Contractual employees in Madhya Pradesh have reason to celebrate as the state government has responded to their protests against the new policy. Following discussions with representatives of various employee organizations, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured them of significant amendments to the existing policy.

Under the revised policy, the condition of terminating the services of contract workers after yearly evaluations will be removed. Instead, the contract workers’ continuation in service will be based on an assessment of their performance and merits, with service enhancement rules being applied accordingly.

In a move to provide equitable benefits, contractual employees will now be entitled to leave similar to regular government employees. Any unused holidays can be carried forward to the following year, offering additional flexibility.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured the representatives that contractual employees in Madhya Pradesh will be given a new designation, seeking suggestions for the same. In a bid to secure job stability, district officers will no longer have the authority to terminate the services of contract workers.

Furthermore, any salaries deducted during the strike period will be refunded, and unnecessary legal proceedings will be avoided. The government aims to bring certainty to the lives of contractual employees, ensuring their rights and dignified treatment.

This decision reflects the government’s commitment to ending the employee culture and fostering respect for various job positions, including teachers. It aligns with the government’s sensitivity towards the welfare of government servants and all contractual employees.

Representatives of the employee organizations expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for addressing their concerns and resolving the issues faced by contractual employees. Additionally, the technical staff’s problems will also be addressed, and guidelines will be amended to reflect the Chief Minister’s announcements. With these positive changes in place, the Madhya Pradesh government seeks to provide stability and equitable treatment to contractual workers, enhancing their job security and overall well-being.
