Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was in Indore today to inaugurate the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at BSF Vatika. He planted a tree under the massive campaign that aims to plant over 51 lakh tree saplings in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
“There should be a lifestyle in accordance with the needs of the environment”, said Om Birla while planting the sapling. “Indore is the land of Maa Ahilya, well known for its spirituality, religion, and inspiration for Karmayoga. New inspiring works in Indore will help the local society get new direction”, he further added.
He also shared his experience from the plantation drive in a tweet.
Lok Sabha speaker also addressed that the city of Indore has its own unique identity in India wherein efforts by the Indore Corporation such as the program ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ to reduce carbon emissions are also commendable. The body representatives have taken the initiative in establishing high parliamentary traditions.

Highlighting the need for in-depth discussions for positive suggestions, he called the Mayor, Councillors, and Leader of Opposition on the lines of the Legislative Assembly. In the program organized by the representatives of the Municipal Corporation, ‘Sadan ki Baat’, the speaker highlighted the working style of the public representatives should match the hopes and expectations of the people.
