Morena: In a major crackdown, the Lokayutka team also raided multiple premises of a village panchayat in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh’s employment secretary. More than 30 Lokayukta officials carried out the operation in the early morning. Meanwhile, searches continue at various sites.

The raids were carried out after Ramavatar Dhakad, an employment secretary attached to Kaharpura village panchayat in Pahadgarh Janpad Panchayat, was accused of disproportionate assets. In this regard, on the complaints, the Lokayukta team carried out coordinated searches at the Dhakad’s properties in Kailaras, Gwalior, and Manoharpur villages.

Police at the New Gwalior Lokayukta had received complaints that Dhakad had amassed more wealth than his known sources of income. The investigation team is evaluating financial documents as well as other records in light of this information to determine how much of these alleged illegal assets are. Some seizure procedures are also being done where required.

Recovered sources indicate that significant documents about financial transactions have been recovered and, as such, may act as significant evidence in the case. Officials however said detailed information of the findings would be shared with the media only after the operation is completed.

According to officials, the searches are still ongoing and will continue after the investigation is finished. The Lokayukta’s action is proof that it is ready to tackle corruption and ensure accountability in government departments.
