According to my information, the leopard had come to hunt animals at night when suddenly it fell into the well.

As soon as the information was received, the forest department team reached the spot and is trying to take out the leopard. The leopard has fallen in a well in Beniganj near Lavania mountain located near Khajuraho.

Madhya Pradesh reigns supreme as the leopard capital of India. According to the latest national survey conducted in 2022, the state boasts an impressive population of 3,907 leopards, marking a significant increase from 3,421 in 2018. This rise reflects successful conservation efforts and the suitable habitat Madhya Pradesh provides for these elusive big cats.

Several factors contribute to Madhya Pradesh’s leopard haven status. The state boasts diverse landscapes, including dense forests, rocky terrains, and grasslands, offering leopards a variety of ecosystems to thrive in. Additionally, dedicated conservation efforts like protected areas and anti-poaching measures play a crucial role in safeguarding leopard populations.

The presence of a healthy prey base is another key factor. Chital, sambar, and wild boar are all abundant in Madhya Pradesh, providing a sustainable food source for leopards. This predator-prey balance is essential for maintaining a healthy leopard population.

Madhya Pradesh’s leopard population isn’t just about numbers; it’s a symbol of the state’s commitment to wildlife conservation. Continued efforts to protect these magnificent creatures and their habitat are vital to ensure their continued success in the years to come.
