Sagar: In Sagar town of Madhya Pradesh, the Lokayukta team caught a labor inspector on the bet of accepting ₹30,000 as bribe money. The inspector appointed was Lalmani Singh, and at that time, he was posted in the Assistant Labor Commissioner’s office. He had expelled Rs. 60000 from the complainant, Devanshu Chaubey S/O Brijesh Kumar, a resident of Anand Nagar Makaroniya. The inspector had demanded an amount of ₹1 lakh in connection with an inspection of the Neera Neer RO Plant at Semarabag for various violations.
The complainant lodged the complaint in the Lokayukta office, Sagar, and further sent a recorded conversation with the inspector about the complaint. On the recording, Lalmani Singh was heard as insisting on the bankers providing ₹30,000 immediately while proposing the balance could be later sought prior to the forthcoming month. This demand paved the way for the planning of the sting operations to be conducted by the Lokayukta team.
Action Against Labor Inspector
On the day of the operation, as soon as Devanshu went and gave the first installment of the bribe money to Lalmani Singh, the Lokayukta team pounced on the inspector, seizing him in the act. The arrest was made at the Assistant Labor Commissioner’s office, the incident where Lalmani Singh was found accepting the bribe.
The Lokayukta team, comprising Inspector Manju Singh, established the arrest, confirming that Lalmani Singh will be charged under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. This act against the labor inspector operation shows how anti-corruption agencies are continuing to fight bribery and corruption, especially in government departments.
