KHANDWA: The Kolkata Police on Tuesday nabbed from Madhya Pradesh an accomplice of two suspected Islamic State terrorists, who were earlier arrested in Howrah, a senior officer said on Tuesday.
As per sources, Special Task Force (STF) team raided a hideout in Kotwali area of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh late night on Monday and arrested the 33-year-old Abdul Raqib Qureshi.One mobile phone, one pen drive and other incriminating articles have recovered from him. He is to brought to Kolkata on transit.
“His association with the two arrested terrorists points to his involvement with the terror outfit. He has a history of association with fundamentalist organisations. We are making arrangements to bring him to Kolkata on a transit remand,” the officer said
According to official sources, Qureshi in the past had 3 cases including of UAPA registered against him, out of which he has completed the sentence in 2 cases and is on bail in the third case.
On January 6, the Kolkata police STF arrested two tech graduates from Howrah with alleged links to the Islamic State terror outfit, who were planning terror attacks in various parts of the country.
