INDORE – A chilling discovery in a quiet neighborhood has culminated in an arrest hundreds of miles away. Indore police confirmed on Monday that they have apprehended a young man in Mumbai in connection with the death of a 24-year-old MBA student whose body was found decomposing in his rented apartment.
The investigation began late Sunday evening when residents of a residential complex in Indore alerted authorities to a “nauseating and powerful” odor emanating from a locked flat. Upon breaking down the door, police discovered the body of the female victim. Preliminary assessments suggest she had been dead for several days, given the advanced state of decomposition.
The victim and the accused were classmates pursuing their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at a local private institute. While the identity of the deceased has been withheld pending further family notifications, she was reportedly missing for nearly four days prior to the discovery.
The Manhunt and Arrest
The tenant of the flat, identified as the primary suspect, had been missing since the foul smell was first noted by neighbors. Indore police immediately formed specialized teams and tracked his digital footprint, which led them to Maharashtra.
“Through technical surveillance and tip-offs, we traced the suspect to a suburb in Mumbai,” a senior police official stated. “He was taken into custody on Monday morning and is currently being transported back to Indore for formal interrogation.”
Investigation Status
While a post-mortem report is still awaited to confirm the exact cause of death, investigators noted visible signs of struggle at the scene. Still under investigation; police are looking into personal disputes between the classmates. Forensic teams have collected samples from the flat, and the suspect’s mobile phone has been seized.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local student community, raising concerns over safety and security in private student accommodations. The accused is expected to be produced before an Indore court on Tuesday, where police will seek his remand for further questioning.
