INDORE: Indore was declared the cleanest city among “Super Swachh League Cities” by President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday, as the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards were announced on Thursday. It is the eighth time, Indore has secured its position to be the cleanest city in India, no less than a milestone. In the government’s annual cleanliness survey, Indore was followed by Surat and Navi Mumbai at second and third positions.
The annual cleanliness survey, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, saw Surat secure the second position, with Navi Mumbai ranking third. Indore’s consistent success is attributed to its meticulous waste management systems, including solid waste segregation and decentralized composting, coupled with robust citizen participation. The city’s unwavering commitment to cleanliness serves as a national benchmark for urban hygiene and civic responsibility. The “Super Swachh League” category, introduced this year, recognizes cities that have consistently demonstrated excellence in cleanliness over multiple surveys, highlighting Indore’s sustained efforts and innovative practices in sanitation.
This is not the first time when Indore is etching history. Earlier on June 8, 2024 Indore entered into Guinness World Records for the largest tree plantation drive. In this 3 hours drive, 51,00,000 trees were planted. Regarding this, the meeting was conducted by Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya this morning, on Saturday, with all the officials.
