With preparations in top gear, Indore is ready to go global as it has been chosen to host the 41st meeting of the Eurasian Group and its working groups from the 25th to the 29th of November.
This esteemed annual event is hosted by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. More than 250 delegates from 25 nations in Asia will attend with an aim to devise measures to check money laundering, introduce controls over virtual currencies and restrict the financing of terrorism.
This is the first number one in three days – the meeting of the Eurasian Group is hosted in India for the first time in 16 years. On the last day of the event, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also be at the venue. For the smooth conduct of the event, Additional Secretary to the Government of India Vivek Agarwal reviewed the preparations for the event in Indore on Thursday.
High-level delegations from the USA, Russia, China, Japan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Armenia will attend this important session. Representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank, FATF, UNODC, ADB, and many others will also take part in the event.
There will be serious briefing sessions, but the culture of India will also not be left behind on this occasion. Spectacular cultural shows will be presented, and MPAIDC will stage an industrial exhibition of traditional “Mrignayani” fabrics.
This global event is a question of great honour for Indore and a chance to showcase the city’s warm welcome and efficient organization. It is for this reason that the city will be well-placed to create a lasting image on the global front by cementing its position to become one of the world’s best destinations for holding international conferences and cultural exchanges.
