The shocking incident of high-tech theft has been reported in Khachrod, and this has left both the police and the bank officials in the puzzles. This was unlike the conventional robberies where funds are the main target and thus the primary victims are the bank, its employees and customers, who in this case suffered loss of critical data due to theft of a CPU containing the data.

It happened at a district cooperative bank in the Mandi area on Sunday. First reports indicated that the accused broke down the main gate and locks carefully to get access. After getting inside, they initially decommissioned the CCTV system by cutting wires to ensure they were not spotted. Nevertheless, instead of trying to access the cash in the locker, the burglars just penetrated into the computer systems.

The intruders not only took off the CPU, which is thought to have contained sensitive financial and transactional data, but they also erased any evidence of their presence by removing the CCTV DVR. The act is deliberate, and this has brought serious concerns among investigators.

Those police officials who arrived at the scene reported the case as highly suspicious. They think that the motive could not be stealing money but accessing or destroying certain data. Officials are also investigating the likelihood of insider complicity since the attackers seemed to have an in-depth understanding of the bank structure and systems.

The incident has raised concerns of a bigger conspiracy, which may be the manipulation of financial records or even the concealment of transactions. They are still investigating to know the motive and the perpetrators.
