Bhopal: Heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh for three days have worsened the situation. It rained heavily in Bhopal from Thursday night to Friday morning. Bhopal has received 72 inches of rain so far. According to the Meteorological Department, this is the highest in the last 50 years. Schools in Ujjain had declared holidays due to continuous rain for 24 hours.
Meteorological Department issued a warning as Indore, Bhopal, Risen, Pachmarhi, Narmadapuram, and Datia received one and half inches of rain during last 24 hours. One inch each has fallen in Naugaon, Ratlam, Ujjain, Narsinghpur, Gwalior, Guna, Chhindwara, Satna, and Madla.
After continuous rain in the capital Bhopal, the gates of Bhadbhada and Kaliasot dams had to be opened. The gates are still open and after the flow of water in Kaliasot river has increased. Municipal corporation are keeping an eye on the low-lying areas of Damkheda and Samardha Tola.
The situation worsened in these areas due to heavy rains in Pandhurna of Chhindwara, water entered the houses today morning. Ashoknagar has received more than 6 inches of rain during the last 48 hours. Water has entered the villages due to erosion in the pond in Bharoli village of Isagarh.
