Gwalior: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has just received three appointments that were confirmed by the central government. Senior Advocate Pawan Dwivedi and Advocate Deepak Khot, from Gwalior, are among those appointed as new judges. Advocate Amit Seth from Jabalpur has also welcomed the group. By including judges, the total number of judges in the MP High Court has gone up from 32 to 35. There are currently 18 open positions among the sanctioned 53 judges in the CAS.
This change means Gwalior now has empowered representation in the High Court. Now, Justice Pawan Dwivedi and Justice Deepak Khot are among the five judges representing Gwalior in the MP High Court. In the past, Gwalior had three senior advocates elevated to the High Court who were members of the High Court Bar Association, much like the four new judges.
The same year Justice Pawan Dwivedi started his career, 2004, current Supreme Court Judge Jitendra Maheshwari also began his career. He has acted as an amicus curiae in several important public interest cases and has raised concerns about food adulteration and solid waste management.
Deepak Khot was at the top of his LL.B. class at MLB College, Gwalior, in 2000. During his time in school, he interned with former Supreme Court Judge Arun Mishra. In 2009, he was named as a government advocate for the Gwalior bench for the first time and has continued in that role since 2020.
Working Advocate Amit Seth from Jabalpur has been selected as a judge, making the group of justices in the Jabalpur and Gwalior parts of the Madhya Pradesh High Court stronger.
