Bhopal: Ramdayal Ahirwar, a member of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency, died on Saturday, August 13, 2023, at the age of 90. He was suffering from a prolonged illness.
Ahirwar was born in the tribal-dominated Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh in 1956. He started his political career as a member of the Janata Party in 1977. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1980.
Ahirwar was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1990, 1993, 1998, and 2003. He was also the Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare in the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh from 2003 to 2004.
Ahirwar was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Railways and the Consultative Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers.
Ahirwar was a popular leader in the Khandwa region. He was known for his simplicity and down-to-earth approach. He was also a strong advocate for the rights of the tribal community.
Ahirwar’s death is a major loss for the BJP and the people of Khandwa. He will be remembered for his commitment to public service and his dedication to the welfare of the people.
His body was cremated on Sunday in Khandwa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were among the leaders who paid tribute to Ahirwar.
Modi tweeted, “Shri Ramdayal Ahirwar Ji was a popular leader and a dedicated public servant. He worked tirelessly for the betterment of his constituents. His demise is a major loss for the BJP and the people of Madhya Pradesh. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Om Shanti.”
Shah said, “Shri Ramdayal Ahirwar Ji was a veteran BJP leader and a popular mass leader. He was always dedicated to the service of the people. His demise is a great loss to the party and the nation. My condolences to his family and supporters.”
Chouhan said, “Shri Ramdayal Ahirwar Ji was a senior and experienced leader of the BJP. He was a dedicated public servant and a great friend of the tribal community. His demise is a great loss for the party and the people of Khandwa.
