Bhopal: The exodus from Congress continues in Madhya Pradesh even after ticket allocation challenges, internal strife, and disciplinary actions. The trend of leaders leaving the party persists even after the results of the assembly elections and the formation of the BJP government. In a significant development in Muraina district, the Congress has faced a major setback as former Congress legislator has joined the BJP. Former Congress MLA Rakesh Mawai has bid farewell to the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He met with Central Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi before making the transition.
The move comes after Rakesh Mawai expressed dissatisfaction with not receiving a ticket from the Congress for the Muraina seat. He was reportedly discontented with the party’s decision despite his seniority as a Congress leader and having served as both the district president and a legislator. His decision to leave the party and join the BJP could potentially lead to a significant number of his supporters also leaving the Congress.
In a parallel development, former district president and leader of Shivpuri, Param Singh Ravat, has also joined the BJP. The departure of these prominent leaders is indicative of the challenges the Congress is facing in maintaining cohesion among its officials and supporters in Madhya Pradesh.
Rakesh Mawai’s discontentment over ticket allocation and subsequent exit may have repercussions, affecting the party’s organizational strength in the region. The ongoing trend of leaders switching allegiance poses a considerable challenge for the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, where efforts to retain unity among its office bearers and workers are critical for the party’s political standing.
