The Madhya Pradesh Police Constable recruitment scam has now been extended to the Forest Guard recruitment process. Investigating teams have also discovered anomalies in the Forest Guard examinations, amongst suspicions of manipulation or fraud.

As per the officials, the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB) detected some abnormality in the result of the examination and, therefore, put the selection procedure of 113 candidates on hold. These irregularities were raised on the basis of internal data analysis and abnormal result patterns noticed by the board.

In 2022, the Forest Department had notified a recruitment process to fill up 1,670 vacancies, which included the posts of Forest Guard and Field Guard (Executive). An online examination will be held from May 25 to June 20, 2023, and almost one lakh aspirants will appear in the examination. December 13, 2024, was the date of the declaration of the final results.

After the results, ESB submitted a list of 1,340 candidates selected to the Forest Department. Of this number, 1,173 candidates have already been appointed. The rest of the candidates (167) are yet to join, and their verification is also pending.

According to Saket Malviya, Director of ESB, the board always places on hold the results immediately, in case of detection of irregular or suspicious patterns of results, to allow a thorough investigation into the matter. The board publishes the final result only after a thorough investigation and guarantees that there has been fairness in the inquiry.

This exposure has caused alarm regarding the level of integrity in recruitment in the state. The governments have now been tasked to ensure that transparency and accountability are seen in all the selection exams that will be held now and in the future. The suspended results are being reviewed, and another decision will be made depending on the investigation.
