New Delhi: The IMD in fresh bulletin on Wednesday predicted widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rains over southwest Rajasthan on Wednesday and over Chhattisgarh on August 26 and 27. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are forecast across Madhya Pradesh for August 24th and 25th. An alert has been sounded in Morena, Bhind, Tikamgarh and Shivpuri of Gwalior as major rivers are in spate.

In view of the flood like situation after water release from the Keta Barrage , district administration has begun evacuating 38 villages that lie in the stream. Disturbing visuals from the Morena district have surfaced where houses are seen half submerged and the old Rajghat bridge is completely submerged.

In Bhind and Tikamgarh districts of MP, administration has been stringently monitoring the rains predicting flood like situation.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected villages in Vidisha, Raisen, Guna, Rajgarh, Sehore, Sagar and Bhopal districts, and boarded an NDRF boat in a village in Vidisha and rescued people from there.

The NDRF, SDRF and state home guards teams rescued over 1,200-1,500 from Vidisha district. Most of them have been accommodated in 18 relief camps. Besides them, 4,200 others who were living in areas where the rivers have a threatening current, have been shifted to safer places.

Meanwhile, all major rivers, including Narmada, Chambal, Parvati, Kshipra and Shivana are in spate in various parts of the state. All major dams have been overflowing, due to which most gates were opened to release excess water.
