Gwalior: These days, with the rise in temperatures, incidents of fire outbreaks come to light. On Saturday, a major fire broke out in the forest area of Ghatigaon, which is in Gwalior. Soon, residents living nearby noticed the smoke of the woods and reported it to local administrative authorities. Just in time, a fire brigade team moved to the spot and took swift action to bring the blaze under control, preventing what could have been a serious disaster.

A scattering of people ran frantically away from the residential area in fear that the fire would spread that way. The proximity of a petrol pump increased the danger of the situation as a massive explosion could have been caused if the flames reached it. Luckily, on the verge of four hours of monumental effort, the fire team finally put the rest of the fire out and guarded around behind it safely.

The intense summer heat is what seems to be the main reason for the forest fire, according to SDM Atul Singh. Yet, there has been no ruling out human negligence. Since it started from the National Highway, they speculate that somebody might have carelessly thrown a burning beedi or cigarette, which was the root cause of the same.

It comes as an incident that has sparked serious concerns over fire safety in forested areas during the height of summer. Citizens are more advocacy authorities that they keep careful and avoid any actions that would result in such accidents. Further, measures are being discussed to further strengthen monitoring in the sensitive areas, especially those adjoining highways and human settlements to prevent such occurrences in future. Local residents and the fire department responded in a timely manner so that no one would die or the destruction would be on a high scale.
