Anuppur: A fraud case has come to light in the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, where a woman was deceived by eight microfinance companies, resulting in a scam worth ₹2.9 lakhs. The victim has filed a complaint with the police, and an FIR has been registered, initiating an investigation.
This entire incident pertains to the Jaitahri police station area. The complainant, Fulbai Choudhary, a resident of Choui village, revealed that she had joined a self-help group around 8-10 years ago. Approximately two years ago, Maya Rathore, a resident of the same village, visited her home, accompanied by agents from eight microfinance companies. Rathore claimed that these companies provided significant loans, especially for children’s education, weddings, and various other purposes.
Encouraged by Rathore’s statements, Fulbai Choudhary submitted copies of her Aadhar card, identity proof, and PAN card to avail loans. She alleged that, in the name of the complainant, loans totaling ₹2.9 lakhs were sanctioned by different microfinance companies like Light Bank and Spandana. However, when the complainant withdrew the entire amount of ₹2.9 lakhs from the bank, Maya Rathore and her son-in-law Dinesh Rathore forcefully took the entire sum back.
Subsequently, Fulbai Choudhary informed the microfinance company agents and the branch manager about the incident. The bank officials, however, assured her that she did not need the money immediately and advised her to use it later. Trusting the statements of the bank’s branch manager and agents, Fulbai Choudhary remained silent. In the following days, both Maya Rathore and Dinesh Rathore disappeared along with their families.
When the microfinance agents visited Fulbai Choudhary’s home to collect the installments, she realized that she had been deceived by the branch manager, agents, and Maya Rathore and Dinesh Rathore. Following this revelation, Fulbai Choudhary filed a complaint with the police, leading to the registration of an FIR.
Currently, the police are investigating the case based on the complaint filed by Fulbai Choudhary. The Superintendent of Police, Sumit Kreerketta, mentioned that the complaint involves allegations of scam and fraud, and further action will be taken based on the documentation provided by the complainant.
