Some of them have been arrested, and police have registered cases against them; they are being questioned further. The raid was conducted in the wee hours at the Gohad police station area because the authorities had received a tip-off regarding the consumption of liquor at the hotels and dhabas in the town.

The people of the town had been raising concerns over cases of many people consuming alcohol in various hotels, especially in the evenings. This growing trend of the violation had raised concern within the community to the extent that members of the public chained themselves severally to the authorities. Taken as these grievances, the Excise Department performed the raid to curb illicit consumption and sales of liquor.
The operation showed that more than a dozen hotels in the area were visited by people using alcohol as soon as night came. The police are also targeting the hotel owners to register cases against those caught drinking under the Excise Act of 1915 provision, particularly sections 36A and 36B, which do not allow any unauthorized selling and consumption of alcohol.
This quick move by the Excise Department is a clear signal to would-be offenders involved in such business as police escalate efforts to fight the illicit liquor business and public consumption of alcohol in Bhind. Other related investigations have continued to see if other persons or businesses were involved in these violations.
