Chindhwara: EOW raided officials in the Chindhwara district of Madhya Pradesh in a disproportionate assets case. Seoni Municipality CMO and Balaghat Municipality were in charge of Disha Dehria’s residence on Nagpur Road in Chhindwara, which they raided. At last reports, the operation continued.
The complaint was made of funds above sources of known income being used for the country’s foreign exchange transactions. Early in the morning, the EOW Jabalpur special team reached the spot with six vehicles. The officials took charge swiftly on official premises, thoroughly searching the premises for any financial irregularities.
The EOW team is looking at financial records and other documents related to the case. Sources say crucial evidence and documents already have been found to support the charge that they have undisclosed wealth. The objective of the investigation is to identify how much illegal money the accused made gain in the process.
Disha Dehriya was earlier Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) in Chhindwara’s Chand and Harrai regions. Officials are also suspicious of how much of the assets acquired were acquired during her time in these locations.
Sources say the EOW team has not yet released an official statement explaining on what it was searching for, but once the raid is concluded, it will speak to the media about what it was looking for during the raid. It is part of a wider crackdown on corruption and financial impropriety in municipal bodies in Madhya Pradesh.
The seized documents will be analyzed by authorities who are set to take what legal action is needed from what they find. As the investigation continues, more updates will follow.
