Bhopal: The team of Kanha Tiger Reserve has been dispatched to Raisen to capture a tiger that has been reported to have killed several men. The fighting team comprised 40 members of five elephants, and they will launch a rescue mission in the General Forest Division. However, this welfare of animals will be followed immediately by the real capture of the tiger by employing camera traps and then capturing it while the team is on elephants.

About 20 days back, the tiger had mauled and killed 55-year-old Maniram Jatav, who used to collect Tendu leaves. Interestingly, the tiger stays in the forest to guard the area so no people can enter. The forest department’s rescue team is managing and coordinating the situation, which is very stringent in not allowing the media access to the operation. It has been further said by DFO Vijay Kumar that the rescue team has put mobile cameras in place to track the tiger, and rescue efforts will be initiated instantly after the tiger is traced. He has also pleaded with the villagers to desist from going to the forest for all their activities. In case of insecurity, they should possibly move around in small groups, especially in groups of not more than five people.

The tiger being sighted around the human population has created apprehension among the people and has interfered with the normal handling of their everyday business. Their main concern remains the lives of the residents seeking to capture a tiger without causing more harm to it or to the opposite. It is very intelligent that the team brings along the elephants as the forest is so dense that their height will enable the team to see the tiger easily.

The forest department has a precise strategy in place regarding the monitoring and, subsequently, the capture of the tiger. While the cameras are fixed to record the tiger constantly, the team will not wait long to Track down the area once its position is identified. Rescue operations are conducted with properly qualified and trained personnel capable of handling such risky situations so as to minimize cases of accidents during rescue operations.
