In Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh, in the village of Markhandi, the Panic started at Sultan Ganj police station when a suspicious electronic device was detected falling off the sky. The equipment had landed in a site that was not enclosed and raised panic among the inhabitants. In the fear of a possible danger, the locals instantly reported the matter to the police by calling dial 100. The police rushed to the scene, surrounded the scene and reported to senior officials about the incident.
After carrying out some preliminary safety inspections, the suspicious Electronic device was retrieved with caution and brought to the local police station where it was further examined. The preliminary police investigations indicated that the device was not an explosion or a dangerous one. More examination exposed the object as a radiosonde, which is a device used in weather forecasting. Radiosondes are usually transported to the air through weather balloons and relay important information in the form of temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure into weather centers.
The device is believed to be of the Malaysian Meteorological Department according to the markings on the device. The authorities believe that the high winds could have scattered the balloon to a distance of about 4000 kilometers and hence it got down and landed in the Markhandi region. The other improbable cause that is seen is that a balloon can have hit something in the sky or a bird may have damaged it and it bursts and drops the radiosonde to the ground.
It is interesting to note that this is not the only incidence of this kind that has been reported before in Dongargarh, with a Malaysian radiosonde also falling down. The police have also preserved the device at the station in high security and they have also informed the top officials about the situation. It has been confirmed to the inhabitants that their security is not at risk at the moment, and the local government still oversees the region in the case of any suspicious events.
