Today eight cities of Madhya Pradesh will be rewarded on their exceptional performance on the area of cleanliness and sanitation. President Droupadi Murmu will give away the awards at a glamorous national-level gathering which will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This accreditation is under the programs of the Swachh Bharat Mission and it emphasizes the interest of cities in Madhya Pradesh to sustain the theme of hygiene and a cleaner environment.
Under Super League category, Indore, Ujjain and Budhni will be honoured with the attitude of working in the top layer during the last three years. These cities have become role models when it comes to urban cleanliness and have been instrumental in leading the example so that others acquire the sustainable methods of sanitation practice.
Bhopal, Dewas and Shahganj will be granted with the President Honour of their tremendous contribution towards the sanitation and hygiene practices. The Jabalpur will be awarded in a special category, whereas Gwalior will be rewarded a state-level cleanliness award.
A number of prominent dignitaries will be in the event such as the Urban Administration Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kailash Vijayvargiya, Ministry of State Pratima Bagri, Indore and Bhopal mayors, and top officials of various departments who will receive the awards on behalf of their respective cities.
Besides the awarding, the outcome of star ratings in the Garbage Free City program, and the evaluation of such categories in certification such as ODF++ (Open Defecation Free Plus Plus) and Water+ will be revealed in the ceremony as well.
The ceremony is more than a celebration of these eight cities but also helps reinforce the fact that Madhya Pradesh is fast becoming a leader in urban sanitation and cleanliness. It also becomes an inspiring ground to other cities to be more stringent in the effort to make India a cleaner and a healthier nation.
