Bhopal. To strengthen democracy and make the electoral process transparent, the Central Election Commission has taken strict action against inactive political parties in Madhya Pradesh. The Commission has cancelled the recognition of 23 political parties of the state. This decision has been taken due to these parties not contesting any elections after 2019 and not submitting the mandatory audit records of three years. Earlier also, the Commission has cancelled the recognition of 15 political parties of Madhya Pradesh due to similar inactivity.
This campaign aims to make the election process more transparent by removing inactive parties. Welcoming the Election Commission’s move, political analysts said it would curb fake or paper parties and promote genuine political activity. Although the affected parties were given a final hearing, their recognition had to be revoked due to failure to submit documents. The Commission has clarified that if a party becomes active again, it can apply for re-registration.
