Gwalior: The Gwalior district in Madhya Pradesh has been making progress in healthcare. Recently, there was an achievement where a team of skilled doctors successfully removed a tumor shaped like a pumpkin weighing 4 kilograms from a woman’s abdomen. After the operation, the patient’s health improved, and she is recovering well.

Sulekha Sharma, a 40 year resident of Kachnav Kala village in the district, had been experiencing severe stomach pain for the past three years. Additionally, her abdomen had been visibly swollen for over ten years. Due to worsening complications, she sought help at the newly established government hospital with a capacity of one thousand beds.

The medical team was surprised by their findings after consultation and initial tests such as ultrasound and MRI scans. The scans revealed a growth inside Sulekha’s abdomen that resembled an eight-month pregnancy. This spherical tumor shaped like a pumpkin was causing distress to her health.

Understanding the seriousness of the situation and the urgent need for intervention, Dr. Vrinda Joshi, Head of the Department at Kamlaraja Hospital, led a procedure with her team to address this issue.

The surgery lasted for an hour. Resulted in the successful removal of this unique tumor. This remarkable achievement needs to demonstrate the skills of the healthcare professionals in Gwalior.
