Bhopal: Ex-Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Digvijay Singh, will organize a special show of the film known as Jungle Satyagraha on 13 January at Mansarovar Auditorium within the campus of the State Assembly. The event is expected to be graced with the attendance of all Congress leaders and leaders of the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Parliament Members, ministers, and current and previous session legislatures have been issued invitations, including BJP State President VD Sharma, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and former CM Uma Bharti.
The documentary The Jungle Satyagraha is built on the event of the tribal uprising in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, against British imperialism in 1930. The tribal leaders of the region had stood up in anger to assert their rights to water, forests and land. The movie sums up the very spirit of their fight and throws light on the spirit and tenacity of the tribal people who fought colonial rule.
Made by local talents from Betul, the movie is a way to express gratitude to the tribes’ chiefs who fought for the people and the foundation for fairness. Thus, through the staging of the premiere, Digvijay Singh hopes to mark the hitherto unnoticed aspect of the fight for India’s freedom, on the one hand, and, on the other, analyse the cultural and historical contribution of the tribal people.
The event is expected to bring common understanding and mutual political respect across the BJP and Congress parties as political figures unite to celebrate the efforts of these tribal warriors. The screening also emphasized the need to archive and tell such a story within the realm of art and movies, especially those revolutionizing the indigenous civilization and history of any region.
It said that the first episode will create a new opportunity for cultural exchange and recognition of history in the region, and more than 20 political representatives and political leaders will be invited.
