Already in the early hours of this night itself an enormous press of Narmada devotees had started taking a turn on the sacred Barman Ghat on the banks of the river in the Narsinghpur district. When the morning sun rays reached the river in the morning pilgrims entered the cold waters with unswerving faith, praying and giving ritual baths. There was a wonderful airing at the ghad of chants, devotion and spiritual fervour. The worship and offering rituals are arranged to go on until afternoon.
Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, according to the ancient beliefs, had done intense penance at this very bank of the Narmada River. Due to this religious connection, it is thought that a bath and prayers here during the Narmada Jayanti earn us untold religious benefits.
