Depalpur: In a disturbing event in the village of Ushapura, Depalpur, a fight took place where silver was exchanged, and the Panchayat Assistant Secretary Santosh Chauhan used force. Thus, the altercation developed due to the disagreement concerning the water supply scheme in the village. The attacker, as it is known to the police, is one of the inhabitants of the district, and due to disagreements regarding the water supply, a severe conflict occurred with Chauhan.
Employee Protest in Depalpur
Much resumed a big protest from the side of the Depalpur Janpad Panchayat officials soon after the attack. Depalpur Tehsil’s 108 Gram Panchayats Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries, and employees mustered the response. The mob later protested at the SDM’s office and the police station to compel the authorities to arrest the culprits.
He added that the employees protested for the suspect to be arrested immediately and necessary action to be taken against the accused. Its full scale was prompted by their anger caused by the fact that the assault had not been dealt with. The employees further revealed that Chauhan was assaulted by stick and rods moments when he was on a working trip in the village. He escapes and goes to the police with it, but he notes that his cries were not responded to promptly.
Closure of Gram Panchayats
In a bid to support their demands, the employees closed all the gates of the 108 Gram Panchayats, making their strike even more drastic. They openly protested the administration’s response to the case and demanded the culprit’s apprehension without any further hesitance. The protest went on, and employees following the demonstrations took their stand and sought justice.
The presence of the police was to quell the protests because the protesters did not understand that a proper investigation had to be done. Nevertheless, relations with the staff remained rather strained due to employees’ intransigent positions. The event leads to understanding the increasing concern of local government employees about their security and search for justice regarding cases of violence against officials in service.
