JABALPUR: The nation woke up to another Delhi-like accident. A similar hit-and-drag case is reported from Jabalpur where a truck on Wednesday night heading towards Tilwara on National Highway 34-A hit a bike and dragged it. As per preliminary reports, the bike was being ridden by a medical student who also had a pillion rider.
The Dhanwantri Nagar Chowki officials arrived on the spot immediately along with the emergency forces. When the speeding truck hit the bike, the rider identified as a medical student fell on the road while the girl got stuck under the wheels and was dragged for 50 meters as the driver tried to escape, the police said. The boy was sent to a nearby hospital, while the girl’s body was sent to the mortuary. The girl reportedly suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
A lookout notice for the truck driver has been issued, the police added after interrogating the eyewitness. The victims are identified as third-year students of the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College.
