Shivpuri: The death toll in the explosion at a house, where firecrackers were stored, in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district rose to 4 on Wednesday after one more kid succumbed during treatment. The incident took place at Badarwas tehsil headquarters of Shivpuri district in the house owned by Mohammed Hussain at around 11.30 am on Tuesday. SP Shivpuri, Rajesh Singh Chandel said, “4 people have died so far.
2 died after the explosion, 1 kid died at the district hospital at night and 1 more kid who was admitted at Gwalior died during treatment post-midnight. As of now, one child is admitted at Guna and 5 people are admitted at Choitram hospital in Indore and their treatment is going on”.
The deceased have been identified as Tabassum (25), wife of Imran and Umra (11), daughter of Tabassum and Shivam (11), and Kalla (10) – all local residents. “A case has been registered under the explosives Act against the owner of the house, Mohammed Hussain and detailed investigations are going on”, said Chandel. According to sources, the people who have sustained injuries and have died used to work there and sell them. The explosion was so severe that nearby houses also felt the tremor.
“The exact causes of the explosion are not clear yet, it is suspected that probably due to summer temperature being already high, it could have led to the blast,” said sources. Firefighters and ambulances rushed to the spot after the incident, the district collector and SP also reached the spot and the injured were rushed to hospital.
