Satna: During the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, violence erupted at a polling booth in the Ramapur Baghelan constituency, where Congress candidate Ramshankar Payasi’s private secretary and two journalists were assaulted by villagers. The incident unfolded in the rural area of Gram Tyoudhari, situated in the Satna district. According to information received, Congress candidate Ramshankar Payasi was informed about irregularities and illegal voting practices taking place at the polling booth by local residents. Upon receiving this information, the candidate promptly visited the Gram Tyoudhari polling center.

Upon expressing his dissent, the villagers attacked both the Congress candidate, Ramshankar Payasi, and his private secretary. The journalists covering the incident were also subjected to assault by the enraged villagers. The Amarpatan police force swiftly responded to the situation, arriving at the scene to diffuse tensions and provide clarification to the agitated villagers.

Subsequently, the Amarpatan police took the affected journalists and the private secretary, Deependra Payasi, to the Amarpatan police station. Late at night, an FIR (First Information Report) was registered based on the complaint filed by the private secretary. The injured journalists and the private secretary were then transported to the Amarpatan Community Health Center for medical attention.

The incident underscores the challenges and tensions surrounding the electoral process, with allegations of booth capturing and irregularities leading to confrontations between political candidates and local residents. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, gathering information and statements to ascertain the sequence of events and take appropriate action against those involved in the assault.
