The Congress party 10-day training camp commenced on Sunday in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh that saw the attendance of 71 district presidents in the state. The camp is expected to enhance the organizational structure of the party and train the leaders to the future elections. The top leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to be present and engage the participants in the session.
The training camp aims at informing the district presidents on how the party operates, policies and the ways it will mobilize the grassroots. During different discussions and seminars, the leaders will be instructed on how to implement the policies of Congress in their areas effectively. The project aims at empowering the local leaders and building an integrated, disciplined organizational framework before big electoral battle.
Members of the training team of the All India Congress Committee, chief of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Jitu Patwari, and Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar, were present during the opening day. Talking of the camp, Jitu Patwari claimed that several issues would be discussed, one of which is the impending Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. He said that the ideology, values and strategies of the party would be briefed to the new district presidents. Patwari also noted that the youth should be guarded against the increasing danger of being addicted to alcohol and drugs.
Training will also be done by the senior Congress leaders like Pawan Khera, KC Venugipal and Supriya Shrinate. The camp will also be used to strategize on how to counter the BJP on the ground level.
But BJP Rajya Sabha MP Maya Narolia condemned the incident terming it as mere theatrics. She claimed that Congress is disorganized, dispolitical and discommitted in that the party is simply copying the BJP style. Narolia also added that the internal wrangles and fighting within Congress might make the aim of the camp more significant or secondary asking how much successful such training would have been.
