Bhopal. The government has formed a committee to provide solar energy to farmers in Madhya Pradesh. The committee has been formed under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Maha Abhiyan. In which the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy has been made the chairman. The Managing Director of power companies has also been made a member. The Secretary of the Energy and Renewable Energy Department from Madhya Pradesh will also be a member. The committee will provide loans to farmers from banks and recommend for grants.
For farmers with existing grid-connected agriculture pumps, Component C offers support to solarize these pumps. This involves installing solar PV capacity up to two times the capacity of the pump to meet irrigation needs and generate additional solar power that can be sold to the grid.
A CFA of 30% of the benchmark cost or tender cost is provided for this component, with farmers contributing up to 40% of the cost. In the regions mentioned above, the CFA increases to 50%, ensuring more equitable access to the benefits of solar irrigation systems.
