Bhopal: Along with North India, the neighbouring states of Rajasthan and Gujarat are in the grip of severe cold. The wind direction continues to remain northerly. Due to the icy winds coming from North India, there is a sharp drop in the day and night temperature in Madhya Pradesh. On Saturday evening, the mercury had dropped by 6.2 degrees Celsius in 3 hours. According to meteorologists, in the next 2-3 days, the intensity of cold may become more intense. After that, some respite from the bitter cold is expected.
According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, Nagaon and Gwalior were the coldest in the state, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in almost all the cities of the state remained below 10 degrees Celsius. In the capital Bhopal, the temperature dropped by 6 degrees Celsius in a single day and the minimum temperature was recorded at 4 degrees Celsius. It was seven degrees Celsius less than normal. A day earlier, the minimum temperature in Bhopal was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius.
Ajay Shukla, a former senior meteorologist of the Meteorological Center, said that apart from North India, the neighbouring states of Rajasthan, Gujarat are also in the grip of severe cold. Cold wave conditions are expected in most of the districts of the state on Sunday. Along with this, there is also a possibility of frost on the crops at some places. A Western Disturbance is likely to reach North India on December 22nd. It will change the direction of the winds with effect. Due to this, the night temperature will start increasing.
