Muraina: The crime rate is on the rise in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, there are reports of unauthorized collections on free OPD receipts at Muraina’s Civil Hospital. Not only that, but female patients are being sent outside the Civil Hospital for medication, revealing a connection to commission incentives rather than writing prescriptions within the hospital premises. On February 7, 2024, an investigation was carried out at Civil Hospital Sabalgarh in response to patient complaints, uncovering an illicit collection of 10 rupees from female patients through unauthorized deductions from free receipts by the committee responsible for patient welfare. CMO has decided to take actions on them.
Despite provisions for providing yellow-colored free receipts by the Patient Welfare Committee for BPL patients, vulnerable patients, women, and disabled patients, hospital staff are unlawfully collecting money on white receipts from general patients, disguising it as a donation in the form of assistance funds of 10 rupees.
When CMO Dr. Rajesh Sharma was questioned on this matter, he assured that an investigation against employees engaging in such activities has been initiated, and punitive action will be taken against the guilty. A female patient also disclosed that Dr. Rekha Goyal writes a large prescription for expensive medicines and directs the patient to her affiliated private medical store for obtaining the medication, despite the hospital having the necessary medication. Sending patients outside the hospital for medicines, disclosing the medical facility’s name for commissions, raises concerns.
It remains to be seen whether CMO Dr. Rajesh Sharma takes appropriate action in response to these allegations. The need for a thorough investigation and corrective measures to ensure ethical medical practices and patient welfare is imperative in light of these alarming revelations.
