Bhopal: Having started the monsoon season in Madhya Pradesh, the Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, has asked all the authorities to be on high alert in the present monsoon season. He pointed out the importance of carrying out disaster management, relief, and rescue within the districts effectively and quickly. Through video conferencing with the senior officials, district collectors, and police superintendents at his own house, the CM highlighted the fact that the safety of state citizens should be the focal point in case of heavy rains.
He directed that every rain problem, e.g., clogging of drains or backflow of culverts, should be cleared off without delay. The release of water in dams should be adequately planned in regard to the information disseminated in the rural areas through such means as announcements on mobiles through public, WhatsApp, and calling. Home guards and disaster relief teams were also directed by CM Yadav to rescue boats available in the vulnerable districts.
Taking note of the rising cases of snakebite in the rainy season, the Chief Minister directed the proliferation of preventive and treatment facilities at the civic panchayat and police station levels. He commended the continuous training programs of snakebite prevention and treatment, as well as proposed that the work should continue and that the members of the Kalbeliya community should be trained and included in the programs.
CM Mohan Yadav observed that 28 districts have had super normal rainfall in the month so far, and overall rainfall in the state is 37 per cent more compared to normal in the period (June 1-June 26). Regions such as Alirajpur and Neemuch have received the most rain. Barriers should be put in the areas where the water is flowing across the roads and bridges to avoid accidents.
He also stated that law and order were very imperative since there are festivals ahead such as Kanwar Yatras. He further wanted to ensure that pilgrims are made comfortable in major religious towns and lauded cultural initiatives of the previous year, which covered tribal musicians and police bands.
