Bhopal: With the assembly elections, around the corner Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure his party’s continued dominance in this Hindi heartland state. In an interview with Ranjan and Shruti Tomar, Chouhan, who had held the position of Chief Minister four times before, outlined his promises for the upcoming November 17 elections and addressed concerns about growing dissatisfaction among voters and internal conflicts that could potentially impact the BJP’s prospects. The BJP has been in power for more than 18 out of the 20 years in Madhya Pradesh, and Chouhan is determined to sustain this streak.
Chouhan emphasises that his approach is firmly rooted in the party’s commitment to development and serving the public, which he believes will yield outcomes. He draws parallels to the 2018 elections when he claims that falsehoods spread by the Congress party led them to victory through confusion. According to Chouhan, during its 15-month tenure, the Congress government failed to deliver on its promises, especially regarding loan waivers, for farmers and other welfare initiatives. Instead, he alleges that they halted projects initiated by the BJP administration. Chouhan asserts that this lived Congress rule has revealed its colors to the public.
Chouhan is confident that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win a term, in Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the BJP’s reputation as a party rooted in its workers and, with a presence globally.
He reiterates the party’s overarching mission to serve the nation, uphold the welfare of society, and dismisses the notion of anti-incumbency within the BJP, pointing to the party’s massive worker base as a testament to its enduring popularity.
In the lead-up to the assembly elections, Chouhan remains committed to the BJP’s core principles of development, service, and the welfare of society, with the goal of securing another term for his party in Madhya Pradesh. The outcome of the November 17 elections will ultimately determine whether Chouhan’s vision for the state will be realized.
