Following the deaths of multiple children in Chhindwara caused by the hazardous Coldrif cough syrup, the Madhya Pradesh government has stepped up enforcement. The authorities are taking recurring actions to avoid any further incidents. Three medicine retailers in Parasia had their licenses cancelled as part of ongoing enforcement.

A special investigation team of food and drug inspectors from Bhopal inspected Paras Medical Store, Rasela Medical Store and Shrivastav Medical Store in Parasia within the Chhindwara district. It was uncovered during the inspection that the operators of these medical stores sold the contaminated Coldrif syrup from batch number SR-13, in addition to issuing false bills, in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

All three medical stores had their licenses cancelled for the findings of the inspection, as the investigation team issued three orders and sealed the stores. It is important to note that over 20 children in both Chhindwara and Betul died after consuming the toxic cough syrup. The investigation into the entire incident remains ongoing, and once again, accountability will be traced by the authorities, while ensuring strict enforcement actions are taken.
