Gwalior: In a significant incident at the historic business fair in the city, a major mishap occurred when a woman, swinging on a boat-themed swing in the fair’s swing sector, suddenly fell from a height of 15 feet. Following the incident, chaos ensued at the fair, and the injured woman was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Taking cognizance of the matter, the administration has directed engineers from the Public Works Department to conduct a thorough inspection of the fitness of the swings.
The incident took place on Sunday night when 32-year-old Rehana, a resident of the Bansipur area in Gwalior, went to the fair with her family for an evening of enjoyment. She decided to experience the boat swing, which unfortunately led to her sudden fall from a height of 15 feet, resulting in severe injuries to her head and shoulders. Promptly, her relatives admitted her to a private hospital for medical attention. As soon as news of the mishap spread, the Fair Superintendent SDOP Santosh Patel and SDM arrived at the scene.
Witnesses allege negligence on the part of the operator, accusing them of overloading the swing. Consequently, demands for the filing of an FIR against the operator have surfaced. Secretary of the Fair Authority, Niranjan Lal Shrivastava, has stated that fitness certificates for all 45 swings operating at the fair have been submitted, yet a thorough investigation into the incident will be conducted.
The business fair, known for its historical significance, attracts a large number of visitors every year.
