Chhindwara: The by-elections for the assembly seat of Amarwara in Chhindwara District, Madhya Pradesh, are declared. This contest turned out to be fairly intense, and finally, the BJP candidate Kamlesh Shah was elected, with the Congress candidate Dheeran Shah giving a tough competition. However, the victory that was achieved emanated accusations and controversies. Dheeran Shah claimed that the local authorities were compelled to act under pressure from the government and denied his demand for the re-count of the votes. He said that he noticed that the number counts were off starting from the 16th round of counting.
Congress Accuses BJP
Dheeran Shah has accused the administration of electoral fraud; he clearly stated that he had officially demanded recounting because the counting process was also questionable. He stated that he was never allowed access because of the ruling government, which allowed him to conform to certain rules. Dheeran Shah also noted that the counting was stopped after the 16th round, which, in turn, not only affected the results declaration. He says that this delay watered the suspicion, provoking him to appeal for a recount, which was not accepted.
Shah continued to argue that he had filed two requests for recounting the votes, but none were considered; he accused the BJP of pressuring the officials into ignoring the applications he made. He stated that something fishy was going on, especially after the conclusion of the 16th round, considering that the declaration of the results took some time. Subsequently, when these incidents took place, Shah threatened to submit a complaint to the Election Commission of India.
BJP Responds
On the other hand, BJP district president Sheshrao Yadav also burst crackers and distributed sweets on the win of Kamlesh Shah, saying that it was the confidence of the people in BJP. Yadav thanked the people of the region and said that the BJP would be dawning the role of representing Chhindwara in the assembly. From this question, he noted that the election was very close due to stiff competition as well as the high stakes of the election.
