A significant addition to the healthcare industry in Madhya Pradesh is bound to happen in Betul district with the foundation stone of a new medical college set to take place today. The bhoomi pujan and laying of the foundation stone of the long-awaited medical institution will be done by Union Health Minister JP Nadda along with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in Betul.

The medical college is going to be created through an approach known as the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and with an approximate investment of 300 crore. This medical college will serve Betul residents as they had been insisting on a medical college in the area over the years and this is likely to be the realization of their long time dream. After this is done, this institution will play a major role in enhancing the healthcare services in this tribal region that is dominated and will also play a major role in making proper medical treatment more accessible to the communities living in the area.

Besides improving the delivery of healthcare, new vistas of medical education will also be provided by the medical college. The local youth will have more opportunities to study medicine within the local area which will save them the hassle of moving to other cities in search of quality education.

According to the official programme, the Union Minister JP Nadda and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will reach the helipad of the New Betul School Ground at approximately 2:45 pm. At that point, they will go to the police ground where the major foundation stone-laying ceremony will be held. Both the leaders will leave the event after attending the event to go to Bhopal at around 4:35 pm.

Medical college project which will be based on the PPP will also involve upgradation of the district hospital so that the modern infrastructure, advanced medical equipment and better patient care facilities are made available. This program is an indication of the fact that the Madhya Pradesh government has been working on the enhancement of the health sector. Other districts are also following suit in order to come up with new medical colleges and enhance access to healthcare in the state.
