Due to continuous rain, the water level in the Bargi Dam on the Narmada river has risen. To manage the overflow, nine of the dam’s gates will be opened today at 11 a.m. This will release water to control the level of the Rani Avanti Bai Sagar Lodhi Project Bargi Dam.

According to the Assistant Engineer, Flood Control, Bargi Dam, the water level of the dam was measured at 422.85 meters at 6 am on Tuesday, August 26. At present, the water useful capacity of the dam is 3205.50 mcm (100.80%). At present, the inflow of water in the dam is 1585 cumec. Keeping in mind the rainfall in the waterlogged area, 1097 CUBIC (cubic) of water will be drained by opening 9 water gates of the dam to an average height of 0.78 m at 11 am today, Tuesday.

Opening of 9 gates of Bargi Dam will increase the water level of Narmada river by 3 to 4 feet. The water discharge can be increased or decreased as per the inflow of water in the dam. The dam administration has appealed to the residents of the lower area to maintain distance from the ghats of Maa Narmada.

Monsoon has once again gained momentum in Madhya Pradesh. A new weather system has become active from today, due to which heavy rains have started in many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in 12 districts for the next two days. Heavy rains are expected in many districts including Bhopal, Chhindwara, Ratlam, Ujjain, Sagar, Jabalpur and Gwalior-Chambal divisions.
