Balaghat: Following the surrender of two active Naxalites from the MMC zone, the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh is now free of Naxalism. Among the Naxalites who surrendered at the CRPF’s Korka camp on Thursday, Deepak, a DCM rank officer, had a reward of 2.9 million rupees and Rohit, an ACM rank officer, had a reward of 1.4 million rupees announced in all three states. The Inspector General of Police (IG) and Collector (CA) have issued statements on this matter.
A press conference was held at the Balaghat Police Control Room. IG Sanjay Kumar, CRPF IG Neetu Bhattacharya, Collector Mrinal Meena, and Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra were present. IG Sanjay Kumar stated that Naxalism has now ended in Madhya Pradesh. Everyone worked together to achieve this feat. Naxalite Deepak was a resident of Palagondi in the Balaghat district, while Rohit was a resident of Chhattisgarh. Deepak also surrendered a carbine and cartridges during his surrender.
Collector Mrinal Meena stated that due to Naxalite activities in Balaghat district, there were difficulties in providing government schemes and other basic amenities to tribal villagers in approximately 100 villages. However, now that the district is Naxal-free, the flow of development will begin in the affected villages.
Thursday will be written as a golden chapter in Madhya Pradesh. In the virtual presence of CM Dr Mohan Yadav from Bhopal, the last two Naxalites Deepak Uikey and Rohit present in Balaghat also surrendered on Thursday. The Chief Minister informed that in 42 days, historically 42 Naxalites carrying a bounty of Rs 7 crore 75 lakh have surrendered in the Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh (MMC) zone. He said that due to the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the police officers and employees from the land of Madhya Pradesh, the Lal Salaam from Balaghat has been given its last salute on 11 December.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that surrendered Naxalites will be rehabilitated and given a new lease on life under the surrender policy. The government is committed to providing security to Naxalites who return to the mainstream under the policy and taking all other measures as per the provisions.
