The government is ready to take strict action against hospitals that have indulged in misusing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is said to be all over the state, including the capital, Bhopal. In line with this initiative, a detailed re-evaluation will be done in 200 hospitals in Bhopal and over 1,000 empanelled hospitals across the state. According to reports, some unqualified hospitals operating in small neighbourhoods and lanes were brought to the fold by fraud. To tighten the regulatory framework, the government is introducing a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address these irregularities.

After complaints by several members, authorities have made up their minds to remove ineligible small hospitals from the list of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The government is actively fighting fraud and will work hard so that eligible beneficiaries have to be rendered proper medical services and not be exploited. To this end, the new SOP will strictly monitor hospital operations, and only those with essential medical facilities and qualified doctors will be empanelled. If any of these hospitals failed, their recognition would be revoked.

The State Health Agency will physically inspect hospital infrastructure, treatment quality, and patient satisfaction. In addition, hospitals found guilty of charging patients illegally will be held strictly accountable. This crackdown is aimed at rooting out corruption from the scheme and ensuring that only real healthcare providers are part of the Ayushman Bharat network.

These measures are frugal measures taken by the government to encourage transparency and accountability in the Ayushman Bharat scheme with the objective to ensure that the promised benefits reach the eligible citizens without any interference of malpractice or fraud.
