Bhopal: The latest criminal case, which took place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, is one involving an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) named Yogesh Maravi, who stabbed his wife, Vinita, and her sister, Megha. The attack was so brutal that the accused stabbed their bodies and even held private parts, causing their deaths; this is based on medical reports. The recent case of double murder has raised the spirits of the city, and new facts have appeared.
Yogesh Maravi, the ASI who works in Mandla, committed the brutal act of crime on Tuesday and escaped from the scene of the incident. But the police caught him shortly after that. Probes showed that the murders took place on the day when the duo was expected to sign the divorce papers, which the accused was reported to have grown furious. Four days before the tragedy, Yogesh came to Bhopal, but Vinita did not let him in, and this only added to his anger.
Vinita and her family had reportedly expected some kind of an attack from Yogesh, given his violent tendencies. The couple had been married for 17 years but had been living apart for the last five years because of frequent quarrels and mainly because they had no children. Yogesh had been urging Vinita to sort things out with her father, but she didn’t budge, and apparently, he could not tolerate it. Adding onto this was the fact that he actually had some suspicion about her character.
A family conference held last week in the Baihar area of Balaghat to negotiate their divorce has not been resolved. In order not to be followed, Yogesh took his mobile phone back to Mandla while going to Bhopal to commit the offense. The victims were two girls, children of a retired school principal, and the attack was made in their house. The police are now studying the motive for the crime and may take Yogesh to look at the crime scene again. The experience shows that post-marital disagreements can have a destructive effect on a household.
